Western Bancorp Income Up

Newport Beach-based Western Bancorp said net income for the third quarter totaled $6.6 million, or 42 cents a share, 61% higher than the $4.1 million, or 38 cents a share, posted for the like period last year. Results for the 1998 period include operations of Santa Monica Bank, which was acquired Jan. 27.
