WHO’S NOT HOT

* Detroit left wing Brendan Shanahan had only one multi-goal game last season but had a hat trick Friday in Detroit’s 4-1 rout of St. Louis. He has a league-leading five goals--all in his last three games and all Red Wing victories.
* New York Islander goalie Tommy Salo, disparaged by his general manager in an arbitration hearing a few years ago, recorded consecutive shutouts on the road. He has a 1.76 goals-against average.
* The Ottawa Senators, off to a franchise-best 3-0 start. They have no one among the NHL scoring leaders, but defenseman Wade Redden is tied for the lead in plus-minus ratio at plus-five and ranks third among defensemen in scoring with four points.
* The Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning is 0-4-1 and has an 0-9-1 streak that dates back to March 30. Raze it and start over.
* The New York Rangers. They’ve been punchless in an 0-4-1 start, having scored only seven goals. They’re lucky the tabloids are too busy gushing over the Yankees to notice how awful they are.
* King center Jozef Stumpel. He ranked 10th in scoring last season with 21 goals and 79 points in 77 games and had a plus-17 plus-minus ratio, but he has yet to score a point this season and has a minus-four.
