Train Station Evacuated for 2 Hours

SAUGUS — The Santa Clarita Metrolink station was evacuated for two hours Thursday night after a commuter reported a suspicious object that turned out to be a brick used as a door stop, according to authorities.
The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. at the station in the 22100 block of Soledad Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A passenger pointed out the suspicious package near the bathrooms to a security guard, who called deputies at the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station.
Sheriff’s deputies evacuated the train station and called the department’s bomb squad, authorities said. The arson and explosives specialists determined that the object was a brick wrapped in white vinyl and duct tape.
Passengers waiting in Saugus were bused to their destinations while the train service was halted, authorities said.
