Football

Lappin, from Loara High, turned in his best performance of the season Saturday as the Dons beat Fullerton, 38-7, in the Mission Conference Central Division opener. He completed nine of his first 10 passes and finished 19 of 27 for 267 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed three times for 15 yards and a touchdown.

* Irvine Valley, sophomore. The goalie recorded a pair of shutouts as the Lasers won twice.

Melody Warren

Golden West, Freshman

Water Polo

Warren, from San Pasqual High in Winterhaven, scored 14 goals as Golden West, the top-ranked team in the state, won the Long Beach tournament. She had four goals in a 12-2 victory over second-ranked Riverside in the semifinals. She added two goals in a 9-8 victory over No. 3 Orange Coast in the final.

Golf

Jennifer Tunzi

* Orange Coast, freshman. She shot the low round for her team twice as the Pirates won two matches.
