New Tropical Storm Threatens State

Tropical Storm Earl formed in the Gulf of Mexico and was expected to gain strength as it heads toward the Florida panhandle, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. Earl was moving at 5 mph and was expected to gain speed over the next day on a track putting it near western Florida in a few days, when it’s likely to reach hurricane strength. Meanwhile, Hurricane Danielle gained power in the Atlantic Ocean, but was no threat to land.
