Compton Dominguez (0-0) vs. No. 3 Santa Margarita (0-0)

The Dons are ranked 16th in the state and the Eagles 11th by Cal-Hi Sports. Dominguez lost the Division II semifinals last season and, like Santa Margarita, was hit hard by graduation, losing five Division-I college scholarship players. Everett Smith is a greater passing threat than recent Dominguez quarterbacks and should be well-protected by junior linemen Donnell Brumfield (6-4, 285) and Brandon Lockheart (6-6, 340). Santa Margarita has a 25-game winning streak. Coach Jim Hartigan says this is his strongest, fastest team.
