Rio Mesa 35, Saugus 28--Pancho Tinoco completed nine of 13 passes for 192 yards, including touchdowns of 37 and 53 yards, for the Spartans at College of the Canyons.
Mike Liranzo caught both scoring passes, finishing with five receptions for 164 yards.
Sean Stoddard rushed for 191 yards in 24 carries and David Parker completed 13 of 20 passes for 240 yards and one touchdown for Saugus. Parker had two passes intercepted by Tom Saxey, who returned one 69 yards for a touchdown.
Saugus had an opportunity to tie the score on its last three possessions, but could get no closer than the Spartan three-yard line, where Stoddard’s fumble was recovered by Randy Garza.
The Centurions had seven interceptions and surrendered three sacks.
