Officials Deny Vote Count Is Completed

International officials in charge of Bosnia’s elections denied that they are holding back vote results because extremists won, saying the count remains inconclusive. Nicole Szulc, spokeswoman for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which supervised last weekend’s nationwide elections, declined to comment on who is leading in races deemed crucial to rebuilding Bosnia after its 3 1/2-year war. Robert Barry, head of the OSCE in Bosnia, said results probably will be announced next week. A strong showing by extremists would be an embarrassing setback for international efforts to build a stable, multiethnic state in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Bosnian Serb hard-liners have warned of a political crisis if international overseers try to deny them power.
