Some Pet Owners to Pay New Fees
The City Council on Tuesday approved a permit fee of up to $500 for families with either a lot of pets, or just unusual animals.
Last year, the council reduced the fee from $3,000 to $1,500 for families with more than three domestic animals. Earlier this month, the council asked staff to further simplify the application process, making it more affordable.
With the $500 fee, the city will need to subsidize a small portion of the permit application process, city staff members said. The new fees go into effect on Oct. 22.
