The City Council tonight will consider eliminating a regulation that limits the maximum square footage for custom homes in Monarch Point and Laguna Sur, on the city’s western edge. Community Development Director Robert Lenard says the regulation hasn’t been effective at controlling the height and bulk of properties but instead has reduced the square footage available.
The regulation is one of many that govern the size of the area’s buildings and thus could be eliminated without sacrificing other regulations, Lenard said. The council meets at 7 p.m. in chambers, 27841 La Paz Road. Information: (949) 362-4300.
