The City Council recently approved initial plans for the annexation of Rancho Capistrano, at the north end of the city. The property is adjacent to Bathgate Ranch and is owned by Rancho Capistrano Ministries. The ministry is headed by the Rev. Robert A. Schuller, son of the famed Crystal Cathedral evangelist. The property lies within San Juan Capistrano’s sphere of influence and will be considered in the city’s comprehensive general plan update.
