Weaver Recalled by Tigers

Right-hander Jeff Weaver (Simi Valley High) will be recalled today by the Detroit Tigers from double-A Jacksonville of the Southern League.
Weaver was signed by the Tigers in the first round of the June draft last year after an All-American career at Fresno State.
He pitched six innings, allowing five hits and two runs and striking out six in Jacksonville’s 7-5 loss to Huntsville in a season opener on Thursday.

Double-A--Center fielder Kurt Airoso (Cal State Northridge) had four hits for Jacksonville (Tigers) in a 14-2 victory over Hunstville in a Southern League game. It was his second four-hit game this season.
Class A--Designated hitter Mike Glendenning (Crespi, Pierce) had two hits, including a home run, for San Jose (Giants) in a 7-4 victory over Bakersfield in a California League game.
JETHAWKS
Harvey Hargrove had two hits and drove in three runs to help the JetHawks defeat the Visalia Oaks, 5-4, in the first game of a doubleheader Monday night.
Hargrove hit a two-run home run in the third for a 2-1 lead and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the seventh for a 4-3 lead.
