O’Hair Diaries, Papers Sold for $12,000

AUSTIN, Texas — The diaries and personal papers of missing atheist Madalyn Murray O’Hair sold at an auction for $12,000.
“I think the diaries will provide a real insight into the real Madalyn Murray O’Hair,” said the buyer, Jimmy Nassour, a 43-year-old Austin lawyer. “You have someone who probably did incredible things for the 1st Amendment yet was deemed the most hated woman in America.”
Proceeds will go toward claims against the O’Hair estate.
Nassour said the recently reported suspicions that O’Hair was murdered along with her son and granddaughter for $500,000 in gold coins increased the price he was willing to pay. The three vanished in 1995.
