John Stephens, who led the Dana Hills girls’ tennis team to two Southern Section titles, has resigned as coach of the boys’ and girls’ teams after 11 seasons.
“I felt like I had kind of burned out a bit,” Stephens said. “Maybe a few years down the road I might get back into it, but right now I want to spend time with my family.”
Dana Hills’ girls’ teams won section titles in 1989 and 1997. The boys were runners-up in 1990 and ’94. The boys won nine of 11 South Coast League titles under Stephens and the girls’ won eight.
