Ever get the travelin’ blues, that what-time-zone-is-this, did-I-pack-my-razor daze (or haze, if you’re in L.A.)?
Check in at L’Ermitage in Beverly Hills, and spatial orientation tilts back into place. At the front desk, you get a chic version of “Hi, my name is . . . “ stickers--business cards with your name, the hotel’s address, the direct phone number to your room and your room’s fax number.
All guests--even if you’re staying for only one night (and, be warned, the basic rate is $418)--also get personalized fax sheets and stationery. Guests receive five of each item, unless they request more.
Some people request a box of 500 business cards, says L’Ermitage spokeswoman Alison Brainard. The free cards encourage repeat business, she says. The phone and fax numbers on the card can be reserved for a guest. That way, every time the traveler stays at the hotel, the numbers will be valid, regardless of room assignment.
Guests tend to hang on to their personalized cards, says Brainard. In a London pub recently, a stranger who found out where she worked pulled a crumpled business card from his wallet--one he had saved from his stay.
Only a couple of other hotels offer the service, Brainard says, including Trump International Hotel & Tower in New York City, and the Lanesborough in London.
