The Fountain Valley School District school board reviewed several changes to the proposed 1999-2000 budget that will add more than $560,000 in funding for new and existing programs. The funds will be distributed as follows: $51,260 for remedial after-school instruction, $63,500 to increase sixth-grade reading instruction, $57,849 for instructional materials or staff development, $31,544 for school safety improvements, $7,700 for English Language Learner instruction, and $33,672 for classroom libraries. Another $319,459 can be spent as the district sees fit.
