Decomposed Body Found Partly Buried in Anaheim

Homicide detectives and forensic anthropologists spent most of Sunday unearthing a decomposed body that was discovered in a brush area off Santa Ana Canyon Road in Anaheim.
The body, buried except for one limb, was first seen by a fence repair worker around 9 a.m. Sunday.
The advanced stage of decomposition made it impossible for investigators to identify the sex or age of the fully clothed body, Anaheim Police Sgt. Joe Vargas said. The death is being investigated as a homicide, he said.
Vargas said unearthing the body was a painstaking process.
“You have to remove one layer of dirt at a time, and sift it for evidence,” he said. Vargas said it is unlikely that additional information about the body would be available until the remains are fully excavated.
