Helicopter Crash

* Re “Navy Ends Search for Wreckage of Marine Helicopter,” Dec. 14: Wait a minute. A military aviation mishap panel is trying to decide whether or not to retrieve the wreckage and the bodies?
Didn’t we just experience reading about John F. Kennedy Jr., who flew a plane into the ocean while he was injured and unqualified to fly it? Didn’t this government spend a lot of money (without any thought or delay) to retrieve the plane and the bodies so they could be cremated and tossed back into that same ocean? I believe it was done off the stern of a Navy vessel.
Now somebody is questioning whether we should retrieve seven of our servicemen who are listed as missing, and the incident happened while they were serving the interests of their and our country. Someone should get these guys’ bodies up from the ocean floor and return them to their families. This is a pathetic exhibit and one more insult to our servicemen.
