PORTLAND STATE (8-3, 1-0) at CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE (9-5, 1-1), 7 p.m.--Despite entering Big Sky play with a winning record for the first time, Northridge is off to an uneasy start. The Matadors were defeated by Northern Arizona and won by a whisker over mediocre Idaho State, a game in which Coach Bobby Braswell made four changes in the starting lineup. Carl Holmes, one of the new starters, responded with a season-high 25 points, including six three-point baskets. Although winless on the road, Portland State is off to a strong start behind forward Jason Hartman (20 points per game) and guard Brian Towne (14.8). The Vikings, who lead the Big Sky in scoring, defeated a hot team, Weber State, 82-59, in their conference opener.
