In the Division II softball championship game:
Cerritos 2, Moreno Valley 0--Ace Jessica VanderLinden threw a three-hitter, struck out nine and drove in the Dons’ first run against the unseeded Vikings (23-8).
It is the first section title for No. 2-seeded Cerritos (26-7), which played in a championship game for the third time in four years.
Brandi Stewart, who led off the first inning with a single and advanced to second on a Julie Hoshizaki sacrifice, scored on a VanderLinden single.
A two-out rally in the fourth resulted in a second run for Cerritos. Elise Chung scored on a bases-loaded walk to Stewart.
Wendy Allen of Moreno Valley allowed five hits and struck out six.
