EVERYBODY DUNK NOW

So, whom can we blame for that decibel-busting Showtime music that greets every Laker alley-oop or short run at a home game? The sure-handed team behind the jams (who will keep the Laker Girls busting moves next year at the Staples Center), includes assistant public relations director Erikk Aldridge, program coordinator Aundrae Russell, L.A.-based deejay General Lee and audio engineer Dave Covelli. “Even though we change the program every night to stay fresh, we have certain songs which really keep the crowd pumped,” Aldridge says. “It’s like a club atmosphere in here. Only there’s 16,000 people on the dance floor.” Here’s a sampling from the Lakers’ playlist.

Tune: “Who Dat,” JT Money
Starter or Bench Warmer?: This up-and-coming rookie on the playlist is aiming for a starting gig if any old-timers stumble.
When to Pump Up the Volume: Pregame juice for the Laker shoot-around. Part of the last set fans hear before the national anthem.
Appropriate Laker Girl Attire: Crushed velvet backless two-piece with rhinestones on halter neck.
Tune: “Get Ready for This,” 2 Unlimited
Starter or Bench Warmer?: Definite starter. Still brings mad game most every night, often in tandem with 2 Unlimited’s “Twilight Zone.”
When to Pump Up the Volume: Chalks up plenty of air time, but shines as a first-half crowd booster after a short Laker run.
Appropriate Laker Girl Attire: Gold scoop-neck leotard and workout shorts, purple wristbands.
*
Tune: “Way It’s Goin’ Down,” Shaquille O’Neal
Starter or Bench Warmer?: Like the man himself, full rotation. Consistent once-a-night crowd pleaser.
When to Pump Up the Volume: Start of second half; fires up the hometown boys to come out smoking in the third quarter.
Appropriate Laker Girl Attire: Black and gold mini-shorts with white/gold satin jockey jacket.
*
Tune: “I Love L.A.,” Randy Newman
Starter or Bench Warmer?: The wily old veteran, with 10-plus years on the playlist, still brings solid game.
When to Pump Up the Volume: Strictly after Chicky’s closed the fridge. Opposing team hears this one, it’s time to shower up.
Appropriate Laker Girl Attire: Purple sequined go-go dress with side slits.
