“Tarzan” took in $34.2 million to make it the second-highest grossing Disney animated film opening ever behind “The Lion King” ($40.9 million). Meanwhile, “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” came in a close second with $31.4 million, and “The General’s Daughter” debuted impressively at No. 3 with $22.3 million.
“An Ideal Husband” opened in limited release with $198,802.
