Chicago Pizza to Close 2 Oregon Restaurants

Chicago Pizza & Brewery Inc. Wednesday announced it is closing two restaurants in the Northwest because of flagging sales.
The Mission Viejo-based chain said it is not renewing leases at its BJ’s restaurant in The Dalles, Ore., and a Pietro’s in Springfield, Ore.
Chicago Pizza said it expects to record a second-quarter charge of $160,000 for closing the restaurant in The Dalles. The chain said it decided not to renew the lease at BJ’s Pizza, citing low weekly revenue of $13,000.
The company also decided not to renew the lease on its Pietro’s location in Springfield, which brought in weekly revenue of $15,000. Chicago Pizza doesn’t expect any significant write-off related to the Springfield restaurant’s closing.
The company said it was unable to negotiate terms with the landlord to allow Pietro’s to operate profitably.
Chicago Pizza, which operates 27 casual dining restaurants, earned $178,000, or 3 cents a share, on revenue of $7.8 million for the second quarter.
