PacifiCare’s Colorado Group Adds Unit

PacifiCare Health Systems Inc.’s unit in Colorado agreed to acquire Antero Healthplans of Denver within the next 90 days, pending regulatory approval, the Santa Ana-based managed-care company said. Terms weren’t disclosed.
The purchase will add about 38,000 Antero members to PacifiCare of Colorado’s existing 450,000 customers. Existing Antero contracts will remain in force until renewal.
PacifiCare of Colorado will operate Antero as a separate unit until it receives state approval to combine licenses.
Antero, with commercial health maintenance and Medicare+Choice operations, is the trade name for Mutual of Omaha of Colorado Inc., which is owned by Exempla Healthcare.
