The Police Department set up a driver’s license checkpoint at Victoria Street and Puente Avenue last week. Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., 1,783 cars passed through the checkpoint, meant to highlight the seriousness of not having proper documentation.
Three hundred fifty-six cars were stopped. No one was arrested, although 14 cars were impounded because the drivers did not have licenses, their licenses were suspended or their registration was not paid for at least six months, police said.
