Twenty first-grade students from Francis Scott Key Elementary School will get a special lesson today at Fire Station No. 6. They will tour the Euclid Avenue station and eat a snack with firefighters, and Fire Capt. Rene Garcia will read to them. It’s all part of the national Read Across America program--in which the Fire Department is participating--designed to stimulate children’s interest in reading while allowing community volunteers the opportunity to read to children. Firefighters also will visit local schools.
