In “The Mother of All ‘SC Hangouts” (by Ed Leibowitz, Feb. 7), “the writer said, “Above the bar at Julie’s Trojan Barrel, amid the frescoes of long-departed coaches, quarterbacks and linebackers, hangs a regulation crimson-and-gold football jersey with ‘Julie 95’ emblazoned across the back.”
For many students and alumni--I am one--your saying that USC is associated with crimson and gold rather than cardinal and gold is like saying that the Los Angeles Dodgers wear periwinkle instead of Dodger blue.

In “Coming of Age” (Feb. 7), a caption refers to the University of Redlands as “Redlands University” even though an advertisement for the university--with the correct name--appears a couple of pages later. The school’s name has been the University of Redlands since it opened in 1909, so it’s not as if a sudden name change could have confused you. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen you refer to USC as “Southern California University.”
