Golden West Wins Twice at Tournament

Jenine Salamun pitched a two-hitter to help Golden West defeat San Diego Mesa, 5-1, in a pool-play game at the Golden West Invitational softball tournament Friday at Golden West.
The game was called after six innings because of a time limit.
Also Friday, Monica Monroy had two doubles in the Rustlers’ 7-2 five-inning victory over Mt. San Antonio. Golden West is 10-6-1.
Pool play continues today. The final is Sunday at 2 p.m.
In Orange Empire Conference golf:
Saddleback 369, Irvine Valley 396--Medalist Lonnie Charleson shot four-under 68 at Tijeras Creek for Saddleback.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:
Golden West 7, Irvine Valley 2--Jason Kasner won, 6-3, 7-6, then teamed up with Chris Tobolski for a 6-4, 6-2, victory in doubles for the host Rustlers (12-1).
In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, El Camino 1--Scott Ogilvie had 19 kills for host Golden West (12-2, 6-1), which won, 15-8, 10-15, 15-9, 15-8.
