Fullerton Wins Golden West Tournament

A two-run third inning proved to be the winner as Fullerton defeated Long Beach City, 2-0, in the championship final of the Golden West softball tournament Sunday at Golden West College.
Maribel Plascencia knocked in the two runs with a single to right field.
Fullerton’s Michelle Ivy (6-4) struck out two and gave up only four hits. She was named the tournament’s most valuable pitcher.
In the semifinal game, Ivy went the distance and gave up only one hit in shutting out Santa Ana, 11-0.
Jessica Forgette and Angela Veronesi had doubles for Fullerton in the semifinal.
Fullerton defeated Golden West in the quarterfinals, 7-3.
The Hornets improved to 16-7.
In another tournament game:
Santa Ana 1, Arizona Western 0--Santa Ana scored the game-winning run in the seventh inning to advance to the semifinals.
