Social Security

* President Clinton says he wants to save Social Security. Yet, his latest budget contains $37 billion in new spending which must come directly out of Social Security funds. This figure is based on an analysis done by six members of the House of Representatives. I suggest the Democratic Party should curb its instinct for profligate spending so that we baby boomers can get the pensions we have paid for all our lives. If they can manage to do that, perhaps we can avoid another tax increase.
