Track and Field
Swamidass went 6 feet 9 3/4 inches to win the high jump in the U.S. Collegiate Series at Sacramento State. It was the ninth-best mark in UCI history.
Swamidass, who attended El Modena High School, has won the high jump competition in four of Irvine’s six meets this season.
THIS WEEK
Men’s tennis: The Anteaters host the Sheraton Newport Classic Thursday through Sunday. Thomas Bohun is 10-1 in singles play for the Anteaters, who are ranked 41st nationally.
Golf: Irvine hosts the Spalding/Anteater Invitational at Coto de Caza Golf Club March 29-30. The tournament will include Stanford, ranked 26th in the nation, and North Texas, ranked 45th. Andrew Wen is Irvine’s top golfer, averaging 74 per round.
Women’s tennis: Darian Chappell and Jonni Seymour are 9-5 as the Anteaters’ No. 1 doubles team. The Anteaters continue play in the UCI Spring Invitational today. They face Brown at 10 a.m. Monday.
Track and field: Irvine competes against Boise State, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cornell in the U.S. Collegiate Track and Field Series Saturday at Irvine’s track stadium. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. and running events at 12:30 p.m.
Men’s volleyball: The Anteaters play at Cal State Northridge Wednesday and at UC San Diego Friday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
