Vicha Ratanachote
Golden West, Sophomore
Swimming
Ratanachote, from Thailand, had a busy two days at the Cuesta Invitational, the top meet in California before the state tournament. He won the 200 freestyle (1:42.72), the 500 free (4:39.36) and the 1,650 free (16:13.52) and was on four winning relay teams. Golden West won the event by 91 points.
Baseball
Rich Pohle
* Fullerton, sophomore. He went seven for 12, including a home run and two doubles, and scored five runs.
Julie Steele
Fullerton, Sophomore
Track & Field
Steele, from Troy High, had a record-setting day at the Orange County Classic. She won the 100 meters (12.46 seconds), the long jump (18 feet 7 inches) and the triple jump (35-10). She also anchored the winning 400 relay team and ran the first leg of the 1,600 relay team, which also won.
Softball
Melissa Beck
* Cypress, sophomore. She was 13 for 26 and reached base 17 times in 29 plate appearances in eight games.
