The City Council recently notified the Orange County Grand Jury that it does not support a recommendation asking the city to stop using gas-powered leaf blowers for maintenance and cleanup work. Landscape superintendent Dan Sereno said a switch to manual sweeping would add nearly $70,000 in annual costs and result in reduced shrub trimming and painting.
