Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath is expected to sing one song on an album being done by surviving members of the band Snot as a tribute to singer Len Strait, who died in a car crash near the group’s Santa Barbara hometown on Dec 14. McGrath was a close friend of Strait and wore a Snot shirt for part of Sugar Ray’s Hollywood Palladium show last week in his honor. . . .
After his big comeback album featuring collaborations with Master P’s Louisiana crew, including C-Murder, Snoop Dogg has returned to his California roots, working with DJ Quik, Dr. Dre and Nate Dogg on his next album, due from Master P’s No Limit label in May. . . .
With radio play sizzling for director Baz Luhrmann’s “Everybody’s Free (to Wear Sunscreen)”--the track featuring that fake commencement address--a video done by artist Bill Barminski completely with computer graphics is set to start airing on MTV.
