Starting Thursday, Laguna Beach: Enter the Laguna Beach Library’s poetry contest any time during April in one of the following categories: first grade and younger, second through fifth grades, sixth through eighth grades, high school and adult. Saturday, Santa Ana: Listen to traditional stories from cultures around the world at Bowers Kidseum’s storytelling room. Then members of the South Coast Storytellers Guild will tell folk tales and legends from many lands. Free with admission to the Kidseum, $6 adults, $2 children 5 to 12, free for children younger than 5. 18th and Main streets, (714) 480-1520. 12:30 p.m.
