Park Pace--Take steps to aid Laguna Coast Wilderness Park by hiking through Little Sycamore Canyon as part of the national March for Parks program. The fund-raising walks, sponsored by the Laguna Canyon Foundation and Laguna Greenbelt Inc., are scheduled for 8, 8:45 and 9:30 a.m. April 17 and 24. The $20 fee includes a guided tour, parking, bus transportation and a “Keep It Wild” T-shirt. Reservations are required. Information: (949) 855-7275.
Saving Space--March for the Mesa, a walkathon and festival in support of the preservation of the Bolsa Chica Mesa, is scheduled for April 24. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the walk is at 10 a.m. from the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve parking lot on Warner Ave. at Pacific Coast Highway.
Event T-shirts are $15 for preregistered adults and $8 for children under 12. Prices on the day of the walk are $20 and $10. Walkers who collect $75 from sponsors will receive a free shirt, and a grand prize will be awarded to the top money raiser. The festival features live music, displays, booths, entertainment, food, children’s activities and a bird from the Bird of Prey Center.
Parking is $3 per car at Bolsa Chica State Beach.
