Second Arrest in O’Hair Inquiry
A second ex-convict has been ordered held in Michigan on a federal weapons count as investigators try to determine whether he and a former prison mate had any role in the 1995 disappearance of atheist rights leader Madalyn Murray O’Hair. Gary P. Karr, 50, of Novi, Mich., was arrested after FBI agents and police searched his suburban Detroit apartment and found two loaded handguns, court papers allege. Authorities also searched David Waters’ apartment in Austin, Texas, and arrested him after reportedly finding 119 rounds of ammunition. Waters was convicted in 1995 of stealing from the O’Hair organizations.
