Child Care

Once again I am dismayed by the government’s priorities (April 30). Clinton is pushing [for] $6 billion for bombing Yugoslavia. Meanwhile, 75,000 L.A. children are stuck on waiting lists to get into child care facilities, partly because retaining child care workers is tough when better-paying jobs--parking lot attendant, burger-flipper--are available.

Based on where we are willing to spend, this would place our priorities as killing, protecting cars, serving junk food and then, oh yeah, educating and caring for our children. Gee, I wonder why so many kids are alienated and enraged?
