COMPTON — A runoff election for City Council will pit incumbent Fred Cressel against challenger Amen Rahh on Tuesday.
Rahh, a teacher at Compton Community College, and Cressel, a Compton business owner, are vying for the council’s District 4 seat. In a six-candidate primary election on April 20, Rahh finished first with 48% of the vote, while Cressel finished second with 28%.
Voters will not be required to produce photo identification at the polls. Although a majority of the City Council had voted in favor of such a requirement at its most recent meeting, the measure failed to earn the necessary four-fifths majority, said city spokesman Keith Davis.
