Hornaday Takes 12th Place in Hotwheels.Com 300 Race

Ron Hornaday Jr., two-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, finished 12th in the Hotwheels.Com 300 NASCAR Busch Series Grand National race Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway that was won by Joe Nemechek.
Hornaday’s teammate, Dale Earnhardt Jr., who clinched his second consecutive Busch Series championship Nov. 6 with a second-place finish at Phoenix International Raceway, was second and Jimmy Spencer was third.
Mark Martin finished 14th.
* Troy Rutherford of Ojai won the first race of the fourth annual Oval Nationals for wingless sprint cars and Cory Kruseman of Ventura was third Friday night at Perris Auto Speedway.
The Oval Nationals are comprised of two races, a 30-lap main event Friday night and a 40-lap main event with a $10,000 purse to the winner Saturday night.
The races, which are sanctioned by the Sprint Car Racing Assn., served as the season finale for the Non-Winged World Championship tour.
Kruseman led J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, 434-426, in the NWWC points standings after the race Friday night.

* Players are being sought for girls’ and boys’ basketball alumni games at El Camino Real High on Nov. 23.
The girls’ game is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow at 7:30.
