City to Give Human Relations Awards

The city of Oxnard will present three community relations awards next month.
The awards are meant to “recognize outstanding efforts to improve human relations” and will be given for outstanding individual, outstanding business and outstanding organization.
Martin Ramirez won the individual award for his commitment to fund-raising and helping disadvantaged students learn martial arts.
The Harwil Corp., a manufacturing company, won the outstanding business award for hiring developmentally disabled people and allowing them a modified work schedule to accommodate public transportation schedules.
The Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation won the organization award for helping Latino youths stay out of the juvenile justice system.
The awards will be presented at Oxnard’s City Council meeting Dec. 7 at council chambers at 305 W. 3rd Street at 7 p.m.
