George W. Bush

Your “sour grapes” editorial concerning George W. Bush’s campaign (“Bush’s Green Wave,” Sept. 28) was written with the sole purpose of doing him harm. He is running an extraordinary campaign and The Times doesn’t like it. You obviously don’t care whom the Republicans nominate for president as long as the nominee is a loser. Bush is a winner, and you can’t stand it.
Your editorial page is dominated by knee-jerk liberals who will do anything to put another Democrat in the White House. You have lost all semblance of objectivity in your mean-spirited vendetta against Bush.

* Of course Bush will get the GOP nomination in Philadelphia. It is definitely in character that the candidate with the most money be nominated by the party whose main concern is money. It makes no difference that no one knows what he stands for except, of course, his wealthy financiers. They know!

* William Schneider implies that it is OK that Gov. Bush did not know the difference between Slovenians and Slovakians since he (Schneider) suggests that most voters would not know the difference, either (Opinion, Sept. 26).
Shouldn’t the president know more about the countries of the world, particularly when talking about them, than most voters?
