CIF to Recognize Five Region Women

The California Interscholastic Federation will honor 40 women, including five from the Valley and Ventura County regions, who were trailblazers in girls’ sports.
Bobbie Diehl of Camarillo, Carol Ghens of Westlake Village, Ruth Halsey of Santa Clarita, Donna Kimura of Thousand Oaks and Patricia Mack of Glendale will be honored Nov. 5 at the Irvine Hilton.
Banquets will be held in Northern and Southern California.
AUTO RACING
* Ron Hornaday Jr., two-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck points champion, races Oct. 16 at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield in the Community Recycling 200 NASCAR Featherlite Southwest series race.
Sean Woodside of Saugus competes in two races Oct. 17 at Mesa Marin. Woodside, who is leading the points standings in the NASCAR Winston West series, will drive a super late model in the 60-lap Re-Refined Oil Race of Champions Invitational and will compete in the Re-Refined Oil 250 Winston West race.
