Mauritania, Israel to Establish Ties

WASHINGTON — Mauritania, a member of the Arab League, will establish diplomatic relations with Israel in a move to be marked by a visit of the West African Muslim nation’s foreign minister to Washington, U.S. officials said Tuesday.
Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is to meet with Foreign Ministers Ahmed Ould Sidi Ahmed of Mauritania and David Levy of Israel on Thursday.
