Athletes at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School will finally have a place to call home when the new athletic field is dedicated this weekend.
The $1.2-million Tartan Sports Field will accommodate both football and soccer games for student-athletes who have not played a home game on campus in five years.
School officials said the field is needed because the existing sports field does not accommodate team sports with more than 11 players.
The field occupies 3 acres of land at the corner of Rancho Viejo Road and Calle Arroyo, adjacent to the Ortega Business Center. It will have movable bleachers, a scoreboard, snack bar and ticket booth.
The scoreboard and lights will be completed by December.
