Tax Fairness

The issue of fairness is often overlooked or misunderstood in discussions of tax reform. Neither a national sales tax, which I favor, nor a flat tax would be truly fair. Why should those of us who have done the things needed to produce higher incomes--study harder in school, work hard now and save or invest--be penalized with higher taxes? Does one person or family receive any more defense, roads or other government services than others? The only truly fair tax would be an equal tax, one in which all people pay the same amount.
