Hueneme will get a close look at two of the nation’s top high school quarterbacks in its first two games. The Vikings play at Alemany on Friday night and travel to Orlando, Fla., for a Sept. 18 game against Daytona Beach Mainland.
Tennessee-bound Casey Clausen, the No. 4-rated senior quarterback in the nation by SuperPrep magazine, directs Alemany’s offense, and No. 9-rated Brandon Sumner runs the show for Mainland.
The 6-4, 208-pound Clausen completed 197 of 357 passes for 3,213 yards and 27 touchdowns last year, with 15 interceptions.
The 6-3, 200-pound Sumner was 91 of 162 for 19 touchdowns, with four interceptions. He also rushed for nearly 700 yards in 111 carries, according to SuperPrep.
“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to play against them,” said Coach Larry Miller of Hueneme. “It’ll be a big test for us.”
