Running back Chet Johnson-Blasucci accomplished just about everything else on offense for La Canada High.
So it seemed fitting that he scored the final touchdown on a one-yard run late in the fourth quarter of La Canada’s 27-14 nonleague victory over Glendale Thursday night at La Canada.
Johnson-Blasucci rushed for 186 yards in 17 carries to provide the bulk of his team’s 269 rushing yards. The senior has 286 yards rushing in two games.
Glendale (0-2) took a 14-8 lead midway through the third quarter when linebacker Michael Valle intercepted a pass by Eric Young and returned it 62 yards for a touchdown.
Hadi Burpee returned the opening kickoff 95 yards to give the Dynamiters a 6-0 lead.
La Canada (1-1) went ahead to stay, 15-14, late in the third quarter on a six-play, 40-yard drive culminated on a one-yard sneak by Young.
After an interception by linebacker Danny Olson on the ensuing possession gave the Spartans the ball at the Glendale 37-yard line, La Canada needed only three plays before Chris Wooldridge ran 15 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
Armen Dembekjian of Glendale completed five of 14 passes for 92 yards and an interception, and Dustin Nersesyan rushed for 66 yards in 11 carries.
The Dynamiters had three turnovers.
