Sylmar 28, Antelope Valley 21--David Contreras rushed for 302 yards and two touchdowns in 30 carries and accounted for 22 of the Spartans’ points at Antelope Valley.
Contreras, a senior running back, scored on runs of 11 and four yards, kicked two 31-yard field goals, ran for a two-point conversion and kicked two extra points. It was the first Spartan victory over Antelope Valley in four seasons.
Former Antelope Mark Sutton scored the game-winning touchdown on a six-yard run with 6:07 to play as Sylmar overcame an 11-point deficit.
Leading, 10-0, Sylmar surrendered 21 consecutive points. Jermaine Norman of Antelope Valley ran 33 yards for a touchdown, John Molock ran three yards for a score and Demetre Booker had a six-yard touchdown run.
Contreras’ second touchdown cut the Antelopes’ lead to 21-17 in the third quarter.
