In a study session to be held tonight, the Planning Commission will discuss a proposal from Southern California Edison about land use in the OS (Open Space) zone, which consists of the areas underneath transmission lines that run through the city.
Edison proposed using the areas to store recreational vehicles, contractor and construction yards, as well as for commercial and industrial development.
This month, the City Council rejected the Edison plan but council members said they would consider applications on an individual basis if adjacent properties, including single-family residences, would not be negatively affected.
The study session is open to the public and will be in the City Council Chambers, 6650 Beach Blvd.
